Hey Hanzi, this was an insightful piece. Some of the ideas resonate with the ideas of "Values Integration" that Steve McIntosh proposed in his book "Developmental Politics". He wants to overcome hyperpolarization, but not by destroying the poles, but rather by acknowleding their contributions of multiple opposing polarities. He uses the metaphor of values as some kind of "magnets" or magnetic poles. Obviously, you don't want to mush them together and lose their driving power, but you want to harness them – a bit like you with your fusion methaphor.
In my own article I summarize his ideas and propose a concrete political process for values integration that is inspired by Holacracy-style Integrative Decision Making (IDM). In Holacracy we actively encourage raising "objections" or "safety concerns" against policy proposals. IDM then provides a wider search space for a more integrated solution that honors the perspectives of more "sensors". This way, policies get smarter and more encompassing without defaulting to "wronging" one side or "winning /losing". https://medium.com/@denniswittrock/values-integration-via-the-integrative-decision-making-process-5b2e2a754149
