Holacracy is NOT a flat structure. It consists of a hierarchy of circles, also called a “holarchy”, hence the name “hola-cracy”. These circles are work functions that are grouped in a hierarchical way and hold “roles”. Work is structured hierarchically — the relationships between role-fillers, people, are NOT. So NO, it does not abolish hierarchy altogether. And YES it abolishes the *traditional* power hierarchy in which somebody else gets to tell you what to do.
