In my experience, the contrary happens: once a role-filler truly embraces the autonomy of their role, it leads to enhanced creativity. You are free to take on any project that serves the purpose of your role, which is awesome. Giving others transparency on what you are working can lead to further synergies and is very important for self-organization to work.
